Showers

With modern hectic lifestyles a shower is getting to be a necessity. Not everyone has enough space for a shower cubicle but installing a shower over the bath will be the next best option.

There are several different types of shower

• mixer shower
• electric shower
• power shower

and your choice can sometimes be limited by your heating system.

Mixer showers work by mixing hot water from your heating system with equal pressure cold water from a storage tank (or the water main in an unvented system).

Power showers are basically a mixer shower combined with a pump. Sometimes the pump is incorporated in a box on the wall (integrated power shower) or sited separately from the mixer (composite power shower). Power showers be fitted over a bath but ideally they should be installed in a shower cubicle.

Electric showers take mains pressure cold water and heat it instantly, as and when required. Electric showers can be fitted anywhere as they operate independently of the heating system.
