Roll Top BathsThe installation of a roll top bath needs to be carefully thought through prior to taking the plunge and buying one. Many roll top baths are of the free-standing type and are really designed to the centrepiece of a large bathroom. Being freestanding they are usually fitted away from the wall. This means that pipework that would usually be hidden under the bath and hidden by the bath panels will be visible unless the pipes are dropped under the floorboards. Dropping pipes under floorboards can itself be problematic if the joists are running the wrong way. There are some roll top baths that have covered sides. These go some way to concealing the pipework under the bath itself but do not bridge the gap between the walls and the bath itself if it is sited away from the wall. Roll top baths with one or more flat sides are available - these are designed to fitted against a wall should the installation of a free-standing roll top bath prove too problematic.
